Taskbar
The Microsoft Windows Taskbar, by default, displays at the bottom of your window
in an "on top" state. The Taskbar allows you to move between all open applications
by displaying an icon for each open application on the Taskbar. Use the taskbar to
quickly switch from one application or instance of the browser to another. Note
that when running NrG Web Highway, you will see an icon for the modules page and one
for each module you are running. This is because each module opens a
new instance of the browser.
The Taskbar can be relocated to any side of the screen. To relocate the Taskbar,
click your mouse on any space on the Taskbar, hold down the mouse button, and drag
the Taskbar to the new location. Release the mouse button.
As an alternative to moving the Taskbar, you might want to use the "Auto Hide"
feature rather than the default of "Always on Top". Customize the Taskbar by
clicking Start, then selecting Settings, Taskbar…. Select your options on the
Taskbar Options tab then click OK.
Note: You may wish to relocate the Taskbar if you are working on the Delivery grid
in the Nominations module, as some of the dropdown listbox options 'hide' behind the
Taskbar. To temporarily remove the Taskbar, hold your mouse over the top of the
Taskbar until the pointer changes to a double-headed arrow. Click the mouse
button and drag to the bottom of your screen. Release the mouse button. To
restore the Taskbar, follow the previous instructions, but drag the top of
the Taskbar up.
Shortcuts
Shortcuts provide easy access to the documents and programs you use most often.
Place a shortcut to your browser in your start menu for quick access anytime.
Alternatively, place a shortcut on your Windows desktop and open the browser by
double-clicking on the icon. Shortcuts do not change the location of the browser -
just provide quicker access.
To create a shortcut on the Start menu:
- Click Start, Settings, then Taskbar….
- Click the Start Menu Programs tab.
- Follow the instructions on the Wizard.
Use the online Help located on the Start menu or call the NrG Help Desk
if you need further assistance.
To create a shortcut on the desktop:
- Locate the browser on your desktop using Windows Explorer.
- Right click on the application and select Create Shortcut.
- Click on the shortcut object in Windows Explorer and drag it onto your desktop.
Note: if you are running Windows 95, you may have to designate a destination for the shortcut.
Screen Resolution
NrG Web Highway is designed to display on an 800X600 resolution as
the minimum setting. To change your screen resolution settings:
- Click Start, Settings then Control Panel.
- Double-click Display on the Control Panel window, then select the Settings Tab.
- Make your changes then click OK.
- Close the Control Panel window.
Note: if you are running Windows 95, you may have to restart your computer.
Keyboard Tips
To view all open applications - hold down the Alt key on your keyboard and click
the Tab key. Clicking the Tab key again will move focus from one open application
to another. To display that application, release both keys.
